Abstract

Veliki Surduk is a well-studied loess-palaeosol sequence located at Titel loess plateau, Serbia. The main aim of this work is to present and interpret the mollusk shells found at the loess layer accumulated over the Marine Isotope Stage 2. Sampling was done at 5 cm resolution, and each of the 43 samples had a volume of 10 l. A total of 29988 shells were manually picked from the sediments, of which 28501 could be identified. Temporal interpretation of results was possible due to previous luminescence dating. There were 25 identified species, with the dominance of Pupillamuscorum and Valloniacostata, which were present in each sample
